Issuance of Digital Signatures: A Comparative Analysis of Australia, United Kingdom and Hong Kong
Most countries in the world have passed their Electronic Transactions Law thereby validating the use of Electronic Signatures (ESs), including Digital Signatures (DSs) in the online environment. Apart from drafting a legislative framework these countries give higher legal status or preference to DSs issued by accredited Certification Authorities (CAs). The aim of the paper is to compare and contrast the administrative procedures with regard to the issuance of DSs to individuals and non-individuals by CAs in Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
